Willie Drennan and friends....

Friday 31st January 2020, 8.00 p.m. All tickets £10.00

Come and join us as Willie Drennan and friends present a night of unforgettable music, banter, tales and craic at The Little Theatre!

Willie is a musician, composer, storyteller, poet and writer who draws much of his material from the cultural traditions of his native County Antrim. To date he has produced and recorded 19 CD albums and 3 DVD’s of his work and presented numerous concerts involving a fusion of music, song, spoken word and dance at festivals and venues across UK, Ireland and Canada. Willie is also well known as a presenter of television and radio shows, including the popular television series ‘A Dander With Drennan’ for BBC Northern Ireland 2005 -2009.

The night will include extracts from ‘An Ulster Address to Rabbie Burns’, a show created by Willie to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Burns in 2009.  There will be reference to Burns the man of wit and insight; the farmer, the patriot, the revolutionary, the Free-Mason, the exciseman, the soldier, the lover of women, the challenger of church and state, and the imbiber of whisky for medicinal purposes.

'Hope & Alcohol' and 'Pure Mental'

About the show

 *  'Hope & Alcohol', written by Phil Orr, was originally commissioned by The Hope Centre (Ballymena). Alan, whose mental health issues, relationship breakdown and alcohol use lead to problems, tells his poignant, often funny story of addiction and recovery.
*  'Pure Mental' is a 'seriously funny' sketch show looking at how we can look after our mental health  - particularly men (who are numpties at it...)  Subject to the authorities granting him a visa (by no means certain), there will be special guest appearance by the famed Dutch Psychiatrist, Professor Hertz van Rental.
